The Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) has mobilized research units, Institutes of Science and Technology and laboratories spread throughout the national territory in response to the emergence of the new coronavirus (Covid-19). These institutions work together in the development of diagnostics, treatments, vaccines and production of knowledge about the virus.

The Network Virus MCTIC (RedeVírus MCTIC) is a committee that brings together specialists, government representatives, funding agencies, research centers and universities with the aim of integrating initiatives to combat emerging viruses. The Network functions as a strategic advisory committee that acts in the articulation of research laboratories, focusing on economic efficiency and on the optimization and complementarity of the infrastructure and research activities that are in progress, especially with the coronavirus.

The Network Virus MCTIC Committee counts expert researchers from several renowned research institutions such as Fiocruz, Butantan, USP, Unicamp, UFMG, UFC, CNPEM/LNBio/ MCTIC, UFRJ, among others.
